Abstract / Summary
The Bi-annual Educators Symposium at the Society of Illustrators in New York is the predominant conference for disseminating pedagogical issues and contemporary professional practices across North America. Aimed at Society members and teachers of illustration, graphic design and visual communication. International.
This invited keynote was based on a commissioned article published in 'Varoom', the Journal of the British based Association of Illustrators and entitled 'Research: The Future'. The general thrust of the presentation highlighted the importance of research as a given expectation for all academics in higher education and detailed how illustration and authorship underpinned by research might greatly benefit one's teaching practice and future career aspirations.
