Abstract / Summary: | Grounded by the ballet the Rite of Spring 1913 by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, the performance AfteRite 2018 combines multi-disciplinary art form under the original idea and choreography by Wayne McGregor(CBE). Similarly Woolf Works ballet is inspired by the writings of Virginia Woolf. A visual projection was created by Ravi Deepres where I was part of the creative team for concept development and design. The visual projection aims to metamorphose the experience and reaches in synergy the audience to create diverse level of connection, understanding, and vibration. For these specific dance narratives, the intention was to generate and design original material to resonate the unique approach from plural perspective in an integral of 35 minutes. Specifically brought in for my emotional approach to design and material specialism, I advised on film sequence that would work and naturally belong in a physical design theatrical environment. In correlation with the video designer, the first phase was to research the topic, to identify parallels from a conceptual, filmic and photographic point of view. A journey was mapped out including filming location, cutting edge technic and design thinking process. From this exploration, industry and scientific collaboration such as the South America observatories were developed to create insight. New form of visual language allow to create unique materials to form an original digital visual sequence. The work was projected to form a multi-screen installation premiered at MET, New York, followed by one week performance, European premier in Copenhagen, broadcast on BBC screening, Catalogue and publication which overall attracts millions of people. |
