Abstract / Summary
What forms of knowledge are at stake if we approach running as a mode of enquiry, as an investigative, and in turn, participatory act, a performance in and of the world? Though not at ease when I run - an understatement - I am easily evoking a complex set of social, cultural and political contexts that arguably locate running as the defining body-based practice of humankind. Peggy Phelan asks of choreography, what are the forms of writing that allow us to hold the moving body? Can we ask what forms of knowledge does the running body allow?
