L/R is a recontextualization of archived footage, remobilized by its two makers to tell a story through a ‘boy’ and a ‘girl’. The double format is deliberate and aims to show how we see the past is often, as Roger Odin reminds us, both collective and individual. Mining the archives separately and bringing them together to create a narrative that is more than the sum of its parts, we want to highlight how, in the making of and (re)-viewing of the past, our memories inflect with each other and with technologies of record in such a way it is often not clear what is fiction and what is fact.
