Abstract / Summary: | 'Alice Bell' was premiered at Kunsten Festival des Arts (2006), and to date has toured to 22 venues internationally. It is the most recent outcome from Williams’s ongoing collaboration with British performance makers Lone Twin (Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters). Since 2000, he has collaborated on the development of several performances, and has discussed their work in print and through symposium presentations; a book co-edited by Williams is forthcoming (2009). The relationship between collaboration (as dramaturg, ‘mentor’, co-deviser/writer, performer) and published critical reflection is productive, in terms of thinking through contextual practices, narrative forms/structures, dramaturgy, models of collaboration and writing, relations between live art and theatre. Throughout 2006, Williams collaborated with Lone Twin as artistic mentor and dramaturg, in the creation of ‘Lone Twin Theatre’, an ensemble of performers from diverse backgrounds internationally. 'Alice Bell' is their first theatre work with the new ensemble. |
