Abstract / Summary

What do we know, understand, recognise and feel about the voice in performance that we did not in 1990?

What does the future hold, given the advances in: neuroscientific understanding; how is this changing voice training and practice?

For the purpose of this presentation the discussion focuses on the somatic pedagogy developed by Kristin Linklater, and drawing links to cognitive science.
Comments, observations, and research are drawn from the presenter's wider practice in the field of contemporary voice training pedagogy, as well as from focused study of Kristin Linklater’s methodology while on her current teacher training course.

Avenues of Inquiry include Somatic Pedagogy, Kirstin Linklater vocal approach, and pedagogy underpinned by neuroscience
