The Day the World Turned Day Glo

Solo presentation commissioned by Arnolfini.
Research context: anniversary of 40 years of Punk rock.
The project sidestepped dominant historical narratives around punk and art histories of the late 20th Century dominated by white heterosexual men and that neglect or erase the lives, voices and creativity, narratives and work of black, queer, feminists. The work developed considered race, gender and sexualities in the late 1970's through the seismic shifts of a post internet, post digital queer lens. Source material included: French Feminist Video collectives, SCUM Manifesto, and the punk musician Poly Styrene.
The submission included:
Two billboard posters andwall mounted sculptural objects.
Four video works.
A limited edition digital poster print

Live performance 'Rude Electricity Parts 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5' with text, moveable sculptures, and choreography Featuring Jude Whitburn, Libita Clayton and Rebecca Ballard.
